Rehab is a residential neighborhood located in New Cairo, east of Cairo Governorate, Egypt. It is considered the first integrated residential city established by the private sector in Egypt. Rehab is located on the Suez Desert Road, 15 minutes from Nasr City and Heliopolis.
The city is divided into ten phases (neighborhoods), each covering an area of 220 acres. The city covers an area of 10 square kilometers and can accommodate approximately 200,000 people. Construction began in October 1997, and construction is still underway, with four phases yet to be completed. The project's owner is Talaat Moustafa Group Real Estate.
The population density in the city in 2003 was approximately 85 people per acre, compared to 600 people per acre in some areas of Cairo. The city is characterized by its vast green spaces, and is known as the "Green City." The city is also higher than the Mokattam Mountains in Cairo, increasing the air currents that make the climate much better than Cairo's, especially at night.
Hisham Talaat Moustafa was the first to establish a fully serviced residential city developed by the private sector, presenting a new vision for life in Egypt, embodied in "Rehab City" in New Cairo.
