Clot Bey Street, the street you stand in the middle of, evokes thoughts of Qasr Al-Aini Hospital, which was the result of Clot Bey's efforts. Or you hear the sound of women's laughter and English soldiers, who turned the street into a brothel. Or you imagine a fierce brawl between the thug Ibrahim Al-Maghribi and the street's residents, with the corrupt official Harvey standing silently, pretending not to see. Clot Bey Street starts from Ramses Square and ends at Ataba Square, and its buildings showcase the Western architectural style that time has imprinted on them. The work on Clot Bey Street began as part of the renovation and planning project for the Azbakeya area, and it was inaugurated by Khedive Ismail in 1873. The street is named after the French doctor Clot Bey, who came to Egypt in 1805 and was appointed as a physician for the army. His appointment letter still exists to this day, stating, "The wise Clot Bey is appointed as the inspector of public health for the navy and the jihad, a member of the Council of Medical Consultation, the superintendent of the School of Human and Veterinary Medicine, with the direct supervision and observation of the work of the wise men and surgeons, and he is entrusted with the supervision of those interests."

Clot Bey made significant contributions to the development of modern medicine in Egypt and proposed the establishment of a military hospital in the Abu Zaabal area, as well as a school for graduating Egyptian doctors. The hospital was actually built and managed by Clot Bey. He then selected one hundred students from Al-Azhar to be educated in surgery, anatomy, forensic medicine, chemistry, and gynecology. These sciences were unknown to the people of Cairo, and after the first batch graduated, twenty students were selected to work as assistants in the school. The title "Mu'iddin" (assistant) is still used to this day. The school was later moved to Kasr Al-Aini, its current location.
